Temple Reef - GRAVITATE 3.0 (2021 NEW MODEL!
The Temple Reef Gravitate first made waves in the industry when it was introduced in 2018, and has been excelling ever since. Comprised of the same two-piece butt joint design as the Levitate for easy travel, the Gravitate has a slightly softer, slightly more parabolic bend.
Gravitate 3.0 is upgraded with our proprietary Direct Sensory System™ (DSS). Incorporating DSS not only enhanced the sensitivity but also resulted in a lighter rod with improved balance.
DIRECT SENSORY SYSTEMTM (DSS) – Fishermen are always wanting more “feel” from their rods. This is the only way of knowing what’s happening at the end of our line. We want to know when a fish gently mouths our bait without swallowing, when the tail brushes our line as the fish turns away, we want to feel if we are fishing a hard rocky bottom, or reef, or soft sand, or mud. We want to experience every thumping headshake, every screaming run, detect the feeling of one assist hook popping off under excessive pressure leaving only one more holding in the fish’s lip so that we can back off the drag and nurse the fish to boatside. Without good feel, we are fishing without one of the most important sensory feedback mechanisms which could be a deciding factor for a good or bad day out.
Temple Reef’s Direct Sensory SystemTM (DSS) is a groundbreaking and painstaking method of rod construction that amplifies blank sensitivity to enhance feel. Our hands are attuned to vibrations transmitted via the line, to the blank and ultimately the reel seat. With advances in low-stretch braided line and highly sensitive carbon fibre blanks, we have already come a long way. However, the weakest link in this chain has traditionally been at the reel seat where outdated construction techniques cause vibration loss and therefore information loss right where we hold the rod.
In traditional rod construction, an arbor made of plastic, foam or masking tape is used to build up the blank under the reel seat. These filler materials, while easy to work with when building the rod, are also the weak link as they are soft and flexible, and therefore dampen and absorb critical vibrations before they reach our hands.
Never satisfied with the status quo, we at Temple Reef realised that to transmit vibration and sensory feedback, we needed a material with excellent conductivity and what better material than carbon fibre. As such, in our rods, we have incorporated a meticulously crafted carbon fibre arbor which is fused to the blank during the manufacturing process to create a single homogeneous piece that the reel seat can sit on without masking tape or foam fillers. This ensures that every vibration and feedback is transmitted faithfully and accurately to your hand giving you ultimate feel and touch. With this system we know that anglers will be able to feel the most subtle of sensations and know exactly what’s happening, when it’s happening and why it’s happening.
